Ana Hernández integrates rebellion and heritage into every work. Her art defies modernity, immortalising ancient traditions from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Hernandez’s work challenges the status quo of Zapotec traditions and puts women in the foreground. Hernández’s creations pulse with the essence of womanhood and inherited wisdom. Gold, sacred to the earth, is present through her work, symbolising the importance of her roots and heritage. Hernandez’ installations seek to reinterpret and preserve traditions that have slowly been buried by colonialism and capitalism.
